DWC Denies Rumor and Clarifies its Policy Regarding QME CME

Last week, CSIMS became aware of a rumor circulated by mail regarding an alleged change in the DWC QME rules that would shortening the length of time allowed to earn the required 12 hours of QME continuing education credit for re-certification.
The correspondence cited a policy change by the DWC that now requires QMEs to submit their application for re-certification no later than 45 days prior to their re-certification date. The letter went on to falsely claim that this change in DWC policy also meant that QMEs had 45 days less than the statutory 2 years to earn their continuing education credit. Not surprisingly, the sender then offered to help with any last minute need for QME credit.
